BROOKLYN – Free seasonal influenza (flu) vaccinations will be available to Southeast Brooklyn residents, ages 18 and older, on Wednesday, January 4th from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM at Senator Persaud’s District Office, 1222 East 96th Street, Brooklyn New York. While no appointment is necessary, it is suggested that residents register online due to the amount of vaccinations available. Registration can be completed at Persaud.Nysenate.Gov.

This service is offered by Senator Persaud in partnership with Brookdale Hospital and University.

The CDC States: “A flu vaccine is needed every season for two reasons: First, the body's immune response from vaccination declines over time, so an annual vaccine is needed for optimal protection. Second, because flu viruses are constantly changing, the formulation of the flu vaccine is reviewed each year and sometimes updated to keep up with changing flu viruses. For the best protection, everyone 6 months and older should get vaccinated annually." The flu vaccine is recommend by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for everyone over the age of 6 months.

“Every year, more than 2,000 New Yorkers die of seasonal influenza related deaths,” said Senator Persaud. “Annual flu vaccinations is the number one safeguard for you and your loved ones against the harmful influenza virus. In the New Year, I look forward to working with community partners and other state agency to provide health initiatives that keep New Yorkers strong in mind, body and spirit”
