Thanks in part to a $50,000 grant secured by State Senator Patty Ritchie, the town of Fowler will have a new feature for its annual “Family Day” later this week. The town used the grant to purchase and build a brand new playground.

“I am thrilled the new playground is ready for the town’s children to use at this wonderful event, but also because it will allow children to get outside, get their bodies and minds active and grow their social skills for years to come,” said Senator Ritchie who is Deputy Vice-Chair of the Senate Health Committee. “Finding ways to get improve our children’s health and let them be children is a top priority of mine as both a senator and a grandparent.”

Fowler’s annual “Family Day” will take place on July 14th and will feature various ceremonies, displays, vendors, classic cars and plenty of activities for children.  There will also be a chicken BBQ.

“The playground has been a great addition to our town. We now have a beautiful facility for our children, the future of our Township. It would have taken several years to finance and build our playground without the Senator’s help,” said Fowler Town Clerk Kelly Harmer. “The Playground Committee, town officials, town residents and most importantly our children would like to thank Senator Ritchie for her compassion and dedication to her constituents.”

In addition to Senator Ritchie’s grant, the Town of Fowler used proceeds from last year’s “Family Day” to help cover the cost of the playground.
