Addabbo meets with Tuoro College to promote the FlexTime Juris Doctor Program

State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. recently met with representatives from his alma mater, Touro College School of Law, to discuss their unique FlexTime Juris Doctor (JD) Program.
During the meeting, Law Center Dean Elena Langan explained how this unique program will accommodate non-traditional students who typically enter a part-time law program, but need even more flexibility, such as a combination of online and in-person instruction. This program offers students the greatest flexibility for a demanding course of study, preparing them to practice law using the latest in evidence-based teaching and learning tools. According to the las school, most students in the FlexTime Program will be able to complete their Juris Doctor in just under four years.
As an alumnus of Touro Law, Addabbo is excited to help promote the program, which also has the capacity to appeal to students well beyond the Long Island campus.
"I am hopeful that the Touro Law FlexTime JD program makes law school viable and achievable for Queens residents and all students needing greater flexibility in scheduling and commuting to a traditional classroom," Addabbo said. "It is my privilege to give back to Touro Law by helping to raise awareness about this one of a kind program."
As part of the FlexTime JD program, classes are offered in a hybrid model which requires students to attend classes in person for only 10 Sundays and work online at their own pace during the semester. Students have the option of taking up to 15 credits fully online. Students attend fall, spring and summer for the first three years. During their fourth year, they can complete their final credits in just two semesters.
Touro Law offers both incoming and current students many scholarships, awards, and fellowships. Remarkably, 87% of entering students receive scholarship awards with all admitted students automatically considered for generous awards. A network of alumni, friends, and local law firms support these scholarships.
Dean Elena Langan stated, “Touro Law has proudly offered both full and part time programs to provide flexibility for students who want to earn a law degree. Our new FlexTime program appeals to students who are dedicated to earning a law degree but require a more flexible class schedule due to other responsibilities. No matter the program, our students receive a rigorous education coupled with hands-on opportunities that ensure they graduate ready to succeed. Many of our successful alumni have graduated from our part-time programs and we look forward to great things from the students who will graduate from the FlexTime program.
