Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick announces $800M small business grant program opens June 10

NEW CITY, NY - Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick announced today that New York State will begin accepting applications for the $800 million COVID-19 Pandemic Small Business Recovery Grant Program that was created in the 2021-2022 New York State Budget. The program provides grant funding to small and micro businesses and for-profit independent arts and cultural organizations impacted by the pandemic. The grants are flexible and can be used for a number of different business operating expenses, including payroll, rent or mortgage payments, taxes, utilities, PPE or other business expenses incurred between March 1, 2020 and April 1, 2021.

Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick said, “I am proud to be able to deliver $800 million in grants for small and micro-businesses in New York. My office is here and ready to help make sure business owners in Rockland and Westchester know how to access these funds. It is imperative that we help local businesses take advantage of as much of this pool of money as possible to help jump start our economy in Senate District 38.”

Al Samuels, Rockland Business Association President, said “The Rockland Business Association is pleased to acknowledge this great assistance program geared to help our most vulnerable businesses. In Rockland County, roughly 80 percent of our companies are considered micro-businesses and that is a primary cohort eligible for grants. We are particularly pleased to note the attention being given to our MWBE businesses, our vet-owned companies (particularly service-disabled, vet-owned companies) and those in disadvantaged geographies."

Jessica Irons, Ossining Business Alliance member and owner of Theater O, said “Surviving the pandemic demanded extra expenses with lower revenue. The Recovery Grant Program is exactly the kind of direct help small businesses need to succeed post-pandemic.”
