Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma) is announcing funding for several bridge and culvert projects throughout the district.  The more than $5-million in local funding is part of the BRIDGE NY initiative, which will fund $216-million worth of projects in 88 communities across the state.

“This program provides important funding to ensure our bridges and culverts are safe and reliable,” Senator Gallivan said.  “Improving bridges and reducing the risk of flooding supports local commerce and protects the motoring public.”

The "BRIDGE NY" awards were made through a competitive solicitation process and will support all phases of project delivery, including design, right-of-way acquisition and construction.  Awarded projects include:

  • $1.677 million to Erie County Department of Public Works for replacement of the Sharp Street bridge over Spring Brook.
  • $1 million to the Village of Lancaster for culvert lining replacement of the Downtown Village Block; Aurora Street to Central Avenue culvert carrying Plum Bottom Creek.
  • $864,000 to the Town of Aurora for replacement of the Church Street culvert carrying Tannery Brook.
  • $799,000 to Town of Aurora for the replacement of the East Filmore Avenue culvert carrying Tannery Brook.
  • $653,000 to the Village of Depew for the replacement of the Marrano Drive culvert carrying the tributary to Scajaquada Creek.
  • $1 million to Wyoming County Highway Department for replacement of the Silver Lake Road culvert carrying Silver Lake Outlet.

Projects were selected based on criteria that included the structural condition of the bridge or culvert; the significance of the bridge or culvert based on detour considerations and the number and types of businesses served.
