State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. is again partnering with Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar and the Richmond Hill-South Ozone Park Lions Club to bring their bi-annual paper shredding and household goods donation event back to Forest Park this October.

On Sunday, October 2 residents can come to the Forest Park Bandshell Parking Lot in Woodhaven between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. where they can safely and securely shred their personal documents thanks to the team at USA Shred, and they will be able to donate their unwanted household goods to the United War Veterans Council.

“Our recycling events are always extremely popular in the community,” Addabbo said. “These multipurpose events give residents the chance to shred their private documents in a safe and secure manner, while also being able to do same cleaning out around the house and donate their unwanted household goods to a worthy cause. It is like a one-stop-shop for your recycling needs.”

Items that will be accepted during this event are: paper (3 boxes maximum of personal, business or medical files), clothing and shoes, small working appliances and kitchenware, toys and bikes, jewelry, small furniture, American flags, and eye glasses.

Items that cannot be accepted are: any electronics, cardboard, magazines, file folders, pre-shredded paper, air conditioners, paint, and tires.

“I am proud to co-host this event addressing the many challenges facing our community and environment. Our community-wide recycling event tackles the climate crisis by diverting waste from landfills, thereby decreasing greenhouse gas emissions,” Rajkumar said. “Our recycling event will also reduce the management challenges of municipal waste, conserve precious resources, and lower energy consumption. At the same time, our event will support our heroes- our veterans- by supplying them with household goods. We will also help neighbors shred documents, protecting them from the threat of identity theft. I thank Senator Addabbo and all event partners for caring so deeply about our sustainability and our community.”

“I would like to thank Assemblymember Rajkumar for her support on this great event, as well as our partners in USA Shred and the United War Veterans Council, the Parks Department, the Richmond Hill-South Ozone Park Lions Club, and 104 COP for their continued participation in helping to keep the traffic moving for everyone’s safety,” Addabbo added.
