Brooklyn, N.Y. – State Senator Kevin Parker, representing the 21st Senate District, has been appointed by Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins to serve on the Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) Task Force, as well as the newly created Cannabis Subcommittee. Senator Parker's latest appointments were made in recognition of Senator Parker's leadership, expertise, and strong record of advocating for social justice and economic opportunities for all.

The MWBE task force seeks to promote the growth and success of MWBEs throughout New York State. The task force's efforts will provide these businesses with access to resources, contracts, and other opportunities that will help them thrive in today's competitive economic environment. Senator Parker will use his experience as a legislator and community leader to shape the task force's priorities and recommendations.

The newly created Cannabis Subcommittee will focus on developing legislation and policies for legalizing adult-use marijuana. The Subcommittee will be responsible for examining the economic and social impacts of cannabis legalization in New York, as well as the regulatory framework that will be required. Senator Parker will bring his healthcare, economic development and community advocacy expertise to the Subcommittee's work.

"I am honored to have been appointed to both the MWBE Task Force and the Cannabis Subcommittee," said Senator Parker. "These appointments will allow me to build upon my efforts to promote social and economic justice in our state. I am committed to working with my colleagues to create a regulatory framework that benefits all New Yorkers and promotes public safety, equity, and prosperity."
