In recognition of Lyme Disease Awareness Month, New York State Senator Sue Serino and Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro are teaming up to host, ‘Tackling Ticks on the Big Screen,’ a free family movie night aimed at bringing critical information and resources to the community in a fun, family-oriented way.  The event will feature a special presentation of DreamWorks movie ‘Over the Hedge,’ and each family in attendance will receive informational materials they can use to help them stay ‘tick-free.’ This free event will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at the Overlook Drive-In Theatre in the Town of Poughkeepsie with the gates opening at 6:30 p.m. and the movie beginning at sunset.

“Kids are at the highest risk for coming into contact with ticks, and with the weather getting warmer and all of us spending more time outside, it has never been more important to remain vigilant,” said Senator Sue Serino. “This free family movie night will put critical information and resources in the hands of families while presenting it in a fun and interactive way so they understand the signs and symptoms of Lyme and tick-borne diseases while learning the best strategies for prevention. I hope local families will take advantage of this opportunity and join us for this event and do all that they can to stay tick-free!”

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said, “Dutchess County’s natural grandeur takes full shape in these warmer months, but residents and visitors must be mindful to take simple steps to limit their exposure to tick-borne illnesses when they enjoy all our community has to offer. Sen. Sue Serino has long raised awareness about Lyme Disease and other maladies carried by ticks, and Dutchess County is proud to partner with her for this free night of family fun and education about the precautions we can all take to stay tick-free.”

Thanks to the generosity of the Overlook Drive-In Theatre, this event is free and open to the public. Concessions will be available to purchase, and no outside food or drink is permitted.

Families and individuals interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP and can do so by calling Senator Serino’s Hyde Park Office at 845-229-0106 or by emailing serino@nysenate.gov. To learn more, please call 845-229-0106.
