Senator Johnson to Hold Presciption Access Event

Senator Craig M. Johnson, (D-Nassau), will be joined by the Garden City Park Fire Department and “Leave It To Beaver” star Jerry Mathers at an event to help residents receive information on low-cost, or no-cost, prescriptions.
They will welcome the Partnership for Prescription Assistance's “Help is Here Express” bus tour to the Garden City Park Fire Department from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29.
The goal of the event is to help uninsured and financially-struggling New Yorkers access information on programs that provideprescription medicines at reduced, or no cost.
Additionally, patients that visit the bus can also learn about new medicines in development to fight chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and asthma.

“We want to make sure that those who have faced layoffs, or a loss of health care benefits in this struggling economy know about every available option,” Senator Johnson said. “I thank the PPA, the Garden City Park Fire Department and Mr. Mathers for joining together for this very worthy cause.”
The Garden City Park Fire Department is located at 2264 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park.
To date, the PPA has helped nearly 6 million patients, including more than 189,000 New Yorkers. Since its launch in April 2005, the PPA bus tour has visited all 50 states and more than 2,500 cities to raise awareness about patient assistance programs.
The “Help is Here Express” is staffed by trained specialists able to quickly help uninsured patients in need of accessing information on more than 475 patient assistance programs, including nearly 200 programs offered by pharmaceutical companies.
When the “Help is Here Express” moves on, patients can visit PPA’s easy-to-use Web site (www.pparx.org) or call the toll-free phone number (1-888-4PPA-NOW) where trained operators field calls in 150 languages.
