Project Renewal’s Scan Van Program provides screening digital mammography and clinical breast exams on board a mobile mammography van. We target medically under-served women, including minority, new immigrants, uninsured, and senior citizens. We partner with community based organizations to coordinate mobile mammography screening events across New York City. 

Uninsured women welcome. All insurance plans accepted. Program is free to uninsured women 40 and older who have not had a mammogram in the past year. We waive all co-payments and deductibles for patients with insurance so there is never an out of pocket cost to the patient.

On board the Scan Van, we offer screening mammography, clinical breast exams, and breast self-examination instruction. We ask that women call our office to arrange a convenient appointment. Approximately a week before the visit date, we mail home to all the women that have an appointment simple instructions and the paperwork that needs to be completed. Patients can complete the forms at home and bring them along to the appointment. 

Images are interpreted by a board-certified radiologist. Reports are sent to the patient and her doctor within 10 business days. Patients with abnormal findings are contacted by our patient navigators. Our navigators will arrange follow-up appointments with an appropriate provider. Our navigator will follow patients through the diagnostic process. Uninsured CSP patients will be refereed to one of our partner hospitals for free diagnostic follow-up exams. In Brooklyn, our partner is Lutheran Medical Center.
