Family Storytime with Senator Joe Addabbo (Library Lovers Month)

In continuing his mission to promote literacy among youth and a love of learning, Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. is partnering with Queens Public Library (QPL) to commemorate February as Library Lovers Month with a special Family Storytime event at Ozone Park Library.

The Senator will read a book to the children in attendance and that will be followed by playtime and singing. It is set to take place on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 3:30 pm at the Ozone Park Library, located at 92-24 Rockaway Boulevard.

“Reading opens up new worlds of adventure and education for our young people,” Senator Addabbo said. “When an appreciation of books and visiting the library starts early, it is likely to be a lifelong passion.”

Library Lovers Month is a great reminder to take advantage of the many programs, resources and activities that are available at community libraries. Senator Addabbo allocates state funding to QPL during each legislative budget, facilitating a variety of programs across his district throughout the year including jewelry making, painting, yoga, wildlife interactions, and more.

Last September, Senator Addabbo collaborated with QPL for Library Card Sign-Up month at Glendale Library offering a series of fun programs throughout the day including face painting, balloon making and a salsa concert to encourage people to come to the library and get a library card, if they did not have one already.

The Senator also hosts Mobile Office sessions at multiple libraries throughout the year where constituents can meet with him one-on-one to discuss their community issues and concerns.

“Queens Public Library is a great community partner, and it is always very satisfying and rewarding to work with them for the betterment of the people of my district,” Addabbo said. “I encourage everyone to visit their local library and familiarize themselves with its offerings.”
