TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to
requiring the commissioner of transportation to cause reflectors to be
placed on lanes of highways during work of construction,
reconstruction or maintenance
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This bill requires the Commissioner
of Transportation to cause reflectors to be placed on the lanes of
state highways while they axe undergoing repairs.
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Adds subdivision 47 to section 10 of
the highway law.
JUSTIFICATION: Recognizing the need for safer highways while still
respecting the current budget limitations, this bill seeks to have
reflectors installed in any stretch of road that undergoes repairs.
PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: This is a new bill
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None.
EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect immediately.

AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to requiring the commis-
sioner of transportation to cause reflectors to be placed on lanes of
highways during work of construction, reconstruction or maintenance
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 10 of the highway law is amended by adding a new
subdivision 47 to read as follows:
47. CAUSE REFLECTORS, OF A SIZE, SHAPE AND TYPE TO BE DETERMINED BY
THE COMMISSIONER, TO BE PLACED ON ALL LANES OF STATE HIGHWAYS, DURING
WORK OF CONSTRUCTION, RECONSTRUCTION OR MAINTENANCE OF SUCH HIGHWAYS.
S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
