AN ACT to authorize school districts to create parklands from land owned
  by such school districts

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Notwithstanding any  inconsistent  provision  of  law,  any
school  district  in  the  state  may  utilize land owned by such school
district for the purposes of creating parklands; provided, however, that
such school district shall submit a proposition to  the  voters  of  the
school  district  for their approval to use such land for creating park-
lands. Any land owned by a school district used for parklands  shall  be
used  for  outdoor  education  and  other school curriculum purposes and
shall be available to the residents of the school district for their use
and enjoyment.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
