HOOPER -- Multi-Sponsored by -- M. of A. J. RIVERA -- read once and referred to the Committee on Consumer Affairs and Protection AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to the location of cash registers in retail establishments THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new section 399-i to read as follows: S 399-I. LOCATION OF CASH REGISTERS IN RETAIL ESTABLISHMENTS. EVERY RETAIL ESTABLISHMENT WHICH UTILIZES CASH REGISTERS SHALL ARRANGE SUCH CASH REGISTERS IN A MANNER IN WHICH CUSTOMERS MAY VIEW THE NUMBERS AND AMOUNTS AS THE CASH REGISTER ATTENDANT INPUTTING SUCH NUMBERS AND AMOUNTS PRESSES THE KEYS OF SUCH REGISTER. S 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
