Requires that every publisher of a magazine sold by subscription shall disclose by a notice on the billing statement or billing invoice of each magazine mailed pursuant to subscription, a customer service telephone number; such notice shall be printed or written in a clear and conspicuous form.

RIVERA -- read once and referred to the Committee on Consumer Affairs and Protection AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to requiring publishers of magazine subscriptions to disclose on the billing state- ments a customer service telephone number THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 335-a of the general business law is amended by adding a new subdivision 1-a to read as follows: 1-A. EVERY PUBLISHER OF A MAGAZINE SOLD BY SUBSCRIPTION SHALL DISCLOSE BY A NOTICE ON THE BILLING STATEMENT OR INVOICE OF EACH MAGAZINE, MAILED PURSUANT TO SUBSCRIPTION, A CUSTOMER SERVICE TELEPHONE NUMBER. SUCH NOTICE SHALL BE PRINTED OR WRITTEN IN A CLEAR AND CONSPICUOUS FORM. S 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law.
