AN ACT to amend the executive law and the state technology law, in
relation to global positioning system technology in state vehicles on
and after January 1, 2010
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section 201-b
to read as follows:
S 201-B. GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY IN STATE VEHICLES. 1.
ALL VEHICLES ACQUIRED FOR STATE USE ON OR AFTER JANUARY FIRST, TWO THOU-
SAND TEN SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY.
2. THE OFFICE OF GENERAL SERVICES, IN COORDINATION WITH THE OFFICE FOR
TECHNOLOGY, SHALL ESTABLISH A PROGRAM TO TRACK VEHICLES ACQUIRED BY THE
STATE WITH THE GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY AND SHALL SUBMIT
SUCH PLAN IN WRITING TO THE GOVERNOR, TEMPORARY PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
AND SPEAKER OF THE ASSEMBLY ON OR BEFORE JULY FIRST, TWO THOUSAND TEN.
S 2. The state technology law is amended by adding a new section 103-a
to read as follows:
S 103-A. GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY IN STATE VEHICLES. 1.
ALL VEHICLES ACQUIRED FOR STATE USE ON OR AFTER JANUARY FIRST, TWO THOU-
SAND TEN SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY.
2. THE OFFICE OF GENERAL SERVICES, IN COORDINATION WITH THE OFFICE FOR
TECHNOLOGY, SHALL ESTABLISH A PROGRAM TO TRACK VEHICLES ACQUIRED BY THE
STATE WITH THE GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY AND SHALL SUBMIT

S 3. This act shall take effect immediately and the addition, amend-
ment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implemen-
tation of this act on its effective date are authorized and directed to
be made.
