Enacts the "community participation in charter revision act"; requires community boards in cities of one million or more inhabitants to review and hold public hearings on the recommendations made by a city charter revision commission within twenty days after such commission publishes its findings; provides that such community boards may pass a resolution.

AN ACT to amend the municipal home rule law, in  relation  to  requiring
  community boards to review and hold public hearings on the recommenda-
  tions  made  by  a city charter revision commission within twenty days
  after such commission publishes its findings

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1.  This act shall be known and may be cited as the "community
participation in charter revision act".
  S  2. Section 36 of the municipal home rule law is amended by adding a
new subdivision 7 to read as follows:
  7. WITHIN TWENTY DAYS AFTER A CHARTER COMMISSION ESTABLISHED  PURSUANT
TO  THIS  SECTION  MAKES ITS RECOMMENDATIONS AND PUBLISHES ITS FINDINGS,
COMMUNITY BOARDS IN CITIES OF ONE  MILLION  OR  MORE  INHABITANTS  SHALL
REVIEW  AND  HOLD  PUBLIC HEARINGS ON SUCH RECOMMENDATIONS AND FINDINGS,
AND MAY PASS A RESOLUTION ADVISING SUPPORT, OPPOSITION  OR  MODIFICATION
OF SUCH RECOMMENDATIONS AND FINDINGS.
  S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
