AN ACT to authorize officers employed by  the  village  of  Kiryas  Joel
  department  of  public  safety  to  utilize  a siren and red and white
  flashing lights in certain circumstances

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Notwithstanding  the  provisions  of section 132-a of the
vehicle and traffic law or any other law to  the  contrary,  an  officer
employed  by  the village of Kiryas Joel department of public safety, in
the county of Orange, may utilize a siren and/or red and white  flashing
lights  on  any  vehicle owned by such village that is being used by the
officer in the course of performing his or her duties.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
