MORELLE -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to the regis- tration of all-terrain vehicles THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 2282 of the vehicle and traffic law, as added by chapter 671 of the laws of 1985, is amended to read as follows: 2. The commissioner is authorized to register an ATV, issue a regis- tration certificate and assign a registration number to such ATV. All such registrations shall be valid [for a period prescribed by the commissioner] UNTIL THE THIRTY-FIRST DAY OF AUGUST FOLLOWING THE DATE OF SUCH REGISTRATION; EXCEPT THAT REGISTRATIONS ISSUED BETWEEN THE FIRST DAY OF APRIL AND THE THIRTY-FIRST DAY OF AUGUST, INCLUSIVE, SHALL BE VALID UNTIL THE THIRTY-FIRST DAY OF AUGUST IN THE FOLLOWING YEAR; AND unless, prior to expiration of the period [prescribed by the commission- er] OF REGISTRATION, it is surrendered, cancelled, revoked or suspended pursuant to the provisions of this article.
