AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to creating two  motor  vehicle
  fuel tax-free weeks per year

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. The tax law is amended by adding a  new  section  284-f  to
read as follows:
  S 284-F. TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF CERTAIN TAXES ON GASOLINE AND SIMILAR
MOTOR  FUELS.  NOTWITHSTANDING ANY PROVISION OF LAW TO THE CONTRARY, THE
TAXES IMPOSED ON MOTOR VEHICLE GASOLINE AND MOTOR DIESEL FUEL IMPOSED BY
THIS ARTICLE SHALL BE SUSPENDED DURING THE SEVEN-DAY PERIODS  COMMENCING
ON  THE  TUESDAY  IMMEDIATELY  PRECEDING  THE FIRST MONDAY IN SEPTEMBER,
KNOWN AS LABOR DAY, AND ENDING ON LABOR DAY, AND COMMENCING ON THE TUES-
DAY IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE LAST MONDAY OF MAY, KNOWN AS MEMORIAL DAY,
AND ENDING ON MEMORIAL DAY.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
