AN ACT to amend the village law, in relation to continue  the  existence
  and  operation  of  the  Woodbury  fire district within the village of
  Woodbury, in the county of Orange

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Section 2-254 of the village law is amended by adding a new
subdivision 10 to read as follows:
  10. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF THIS ARTICLE AND REGARDLESS
OF  THE  INCORPORATION  OF  THE  VILLAGE  OF WOODBURY, THE WOODBURY FIRE
DISTRICT, IN THE COUNTY OF ORANGE, SHALL NOT CEASE TO EXIST AS A  RESULT
OF  THE  INCORPORATION OF THE VILLAGE OF WOODBURY, BUT SHALL CONTINUE TO
EXIST AND OPERATE AS A DISTRICT CORPORATION   AND POLITICAL  SUBDIVISION
OF  THE  STATE, AS IT EXISTED AND OPERATED ON DECEMBER THIRTY-FIRST, TWO
THOUSAND SIX.  SUCH FIRE DISTRICT AND THE FIRE COMPANIES  THEREOF  SHALL
CONTINUE  TO  PROVIDE  FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES ON AND AFTER JUNE FIRST,
TWO THOUSAND NINE, WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF SUCH DISTRICT. THE BOARD  OF
FIRE COMMISSIONERS OF SUCH FIRE DISTRICT SHALL CONTINUE AS THE GOVERNING
BODY OF THE WOODBURY FIRE DISTRICT AND ALL OFFICERS OF THE FIRE DISTRICT
SHALL  CONTINUE  TO  SERVE AND ACT IN THEIR RESPECTIVE CAPACITIES ON AND
AFTER JUNE FIRST, TWO THOUSAND NINE.  ALL  ASSETS,  DEBTS,  LIABILITIES,
CONTRACTS,  CAUSES OF ACTION AND OTHER ENTITLEMENTS OF THE WOODBURY FIRE
DISTRICT AND THE FIRE COMPANIES THEREOF SHALL SURVIVE ON AND AFTER  JUNE
FIRST, TWO THOUSAND NINE.
  S  2.  This act shall take effect immediately; provided, however, that
if this act shall not have become a law on or before June  1,  2009,  it
shall  take  effect immediately and shall be deemed to have been in full
force and effect on and after June 1, 2009.
