AN ACT to amend the real property tax law, in relation to the definition
  of real property

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subdivision 12 of section 102 of the  real
property  tax  law,  as  amended  by chapter 833 of the laws of 1960, is
amended to read as follows:
  (a) Land itself, above and under water,  including  trees  and  under-
growth thereon BUT EXCLUDING THE CURRENT MARKET VALUE OF STANDING TIMBER
AND ANY CORRESPONDING STUMPAGE VALUES AS RELATED TO PRIVATE FORESTLANDS,
and  mines, minerals, quarries and fossils in and under the same, except
mines belonging to the state;
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
