AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to liability  of
  the  metropolitan  transportation authority for injuries to passengers
  on trains of the authority

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Section  1276 of the public authorities law is amended by
adding a new subdivision 3-a to read as follows:
  3-A. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER  PROVISIONS  OF  THIS  SECTION  TO  THE
CONTRARY,  ON  ALL  TRAINS OPERATED BY THE AUTHORITY WITHOUT A CONDUCTOR
THE AUTHORITY SHALL BE STRICTLY LIABLE FOR ANY AND ALL INJURIES INCURRED
BY PASSENGERS, EITHER IN PERSON OR PROPERTY, AS THE RESULT  OF  CRIMINAL
ACTIVITY COMMITTED ON SUCH TRAINS.
  S  2.  This  act  shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall
have become a law.
