Makes it a class A misdemeanor for a party or representative of a party to an action or proceeding before a juror, and after discharge of such juror, to confer, or offer or agree to confer, any payment or benefit upon such juror or a third party, with intent to influence or reward such juror's conduct regarding that party in any court action or proceeding.

AN ACT to amend the penal law,  in  relation  to  offering  an  unlawful
  gratuity to a juror

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. The penal law is amended by adding a new section 215.26  to
read as follows:
S 215.26 OFFERING AN UNLAWFUL GRATUITY TO A JUROR.
  A  PERSON  IS GUILTY OF OFFERING AN UNLAWFUL GRATUITY TO A JUROR WHEN,
BEING A PARTY OR REPRESENTATIVE OF A PARTY TO AN  ACTION  OR  PROCEEDING
BROUGHT  BEFORE SUCH JUROR, AND AFTER DISCHARGE OF SUCH JUROR, HE OR SHE
CONFERS, OR OFFERS OR AGREES TO CONFER, ANY PAYMENT OR BENEFIT UPON SUCH
JUROR OR A THIRD PERSON, WITH INTENT TO INFLUENCE OR REWARD SUCH JUROR'S
CONDUCT REGARDING THAT PARTY IN ANY COURT ACTION OR PROCEEDING.
  OFFERING AN UNLAWFUL GRATUITY TO A JUROR IS A CLASS A MISDEMEANOR.
  S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of November next succeed-
ing the date upon which it shall have become a law.
