AN ACT to amend the public service law, in relation to  notification  of
  local  zoning  authorities  or  assessors  of  the installation of new
  meters

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  The public service law is amended by adding a new section
39-a to read as follows:
  S 39-A. INSTALLATION OF NEW METERS; NOTICE. 1. ANY UTILITY CORPORATION
OR WATERWORKS CORPORATION SUBJECT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ARTICLE  AND
ANY  WATERWORKS  PROVIDER SUBJECT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE FOUR-B OF
THIS CHAPTER SHALL PROVIDE  WRITTEN  PRIOR  NOTICE  TO  A  LOCAL  ZONING
AUTHORITY OR ASSESSOR'S OFFICE WHENEVER AN ADDITIONAL METER IS SCHEDULED
FOR  INSTALLATION  ON  ANY  REAL  PROPERTY ON WHICH AT LEAST ONE WORKING
METER IS CURRENTLY INSTALLED.
  2. THE  LOCAL  ZONING  AUTHORITY  OR  ASSESSOR  SHALL  BE  GRANTED  AN
INSPECTION  OF  THE  PROPERTY  PRIOR  TO  INSTALLATION  AND MUST PROVIDE
APPROVAL FOR THE UTILITY TO COMPLETE ITS PROPOSED INSTALLATION.
  S 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day  after  it  shall
have become a law.
