AN  ACT to amend the executive law and the education law, in relation to
  providing wireless Internet access service at certain public locations

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section 204 to
read as follows:
  S  204.  WIRELESS  INTERNET  ACCESS SERVICE AT THE EMPIRE STATE PLAZA.
THE OFFICE FOR TECHNOLOGY SHALL, WITHIN  ONE  YEAR  AFTER  THIS  SECTION
TAKES  EFFECT,  PROVIDE  WIRELESS  INTERNET  ACCESS SERVICE AT THE STATE
CAPITOL BUILDING AND AT THE LEGISLATIVE OFFICE BUILDING AND WITHIN THREE
YEARS AFTER THIS SECTION TAKES EFFECT, PROVIDE WIRELESS INTERNET SERVICE
AT THE REST OF THE EMPIRE STATE PLAZA.  THE OFFICE FOR TECHNOLOGY  SHALL
SEEK  OUT AND MAY ACCEPT PRIVATE DONATIONS TO HELP COMPLETE THE PURPOSES
OF THIS SECTION.
  S 2. The education law is amended by adding a  new  section  232-a  to
read as follows:
  S  232-A.  WIRELESS  INTERNET  ACCESS SERVICE AT THE STATE LIBRARY AND
STATE MUSEUM.  THE DEPARTMENT SHALL, WITHIN TWO YEARS AFTER THIS SECTION
TAKES EFFECT, PROVIDE WIRELESS INTERNET  ACCESS  SERVICE  AT  THE  STATE
LIBRARY  AND AT THE STATE MUSEUM.  THE DEPARTMENT SHALL SEEK OUT AND MAY
ACCEPT PRIVATE DONATIONS TO HELP COMPLETE THE PURPOSES OF THIS SECTION.
  S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
