AN ACT to amend the executive  law,  in  relation  to  requiring  active
  supervision of certain inmates released on parole

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Subdivision 4 of section 259-a of  the  executive  law,  as
separately  amended  by chapter 635 of the laws of 1985 and chapter 1 of
the laws of 1998, is amended to read as follows:
  4. The division shall  ACTIVELY  supervise  all  inmates  released  on
parole  or  conditional  release, or to post-release supervision, except
that the division may consent to the supervision of a released inmate by
the United States parole commission pursuant to the witness security act
of nineteen hundred eighty-four.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
