COLTON, DIAZ, TOWNS -- read once and referred to the Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions AN ACT to amend the public service law, in relation to prohibiting tele- phone corporations from imposing a charge for directory assistance THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 91 of the public service law is amended by adding a new subdivision 7 to read as follows: 7. NO TELEPHONE CORPORATION SHALL CHARGE A CUSTOMER FOR PROVIDING INFORMATION CONCERNING A PARTICULAR TELEPHONE NUMBER. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately provided, however, the public service commission shall promulgate appropriate rules and regu- lations within 120 days of the effective date of this act.
