AN ACT to amend the general municipal law, in relation to duties of fire
  officers  and firefighters specified in the fire code enacted by local
  law in cities of one million or more in 2008

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  The  general  municipal  law  is  amended by adding a new
section 209-ff to read as follows:
  S 209-FF. DUTIES OF CERTAIN FIRE OFFICERS  AND  FIREFIGHTERS.  IN  ANY
CASE WHERE A CITY WITH A POPULATION OF ONE MILLION OR MORE HAS ENACTED A
NEW  FIRE  CODE AND A NEW CONSTRUCTION CODE BY LOCAL LAW IN TWO THOUSAND
EIGHT, AND SUCH CODE SPECIFIES  DUTIES  TO  BE  PERFORMED  BY  THE  FIRE
DEPARTMENT  OF  SUCH  CITY, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF SUCH CITY SHALL TRAIN
ALL FIRE OFFICERS AND FIREFIGHTERS TO PERFORM SUCH DUTIES NO LATER  THAN
JULY  FIRST,  TWO  THOUSAND  TEN,  INCLUDING  AT  LEAST  EIGHTY HOURS OF
INSTRUCTION.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
