AN ACT to amend the public housing law, in  relation  to  requiring  the
  division  of  housing  and  community  renewal  to provide a financial
  education course to certain persons with credit problems

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Section 14 of the public housing law is amended by adding a
new subdivision 6 to read as follows:
  6.  THE COMMISSIONER IS AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO PROVIDE A FINANCIAL
EDUCATION COURSE TO THOSE PERSONS WHO CAN PROVE THAT THEY HAVE A  CREDIT
SCORE  UNDER 620 AS VERIFIED BY A REPUTABLE CREDIT REPORTING AGENCY. THE
COMMISSIONER SHALL PROMULGATE RULES AND REGULATIONS WHICH SHALL  CONTAIN
THE  LOCATIONS,  DATES, FEES, ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS, AND THE CURRICULUM
FOR SUCH COURSES.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
