            CONCURRENT RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE AND ASSEMBLY

proposing an amendment to section 6 of article 6 of the constitution, in
  relation to the election of justices of the supreme court in the  city
  of New York

  Section  1.  Resolved  (if  the  Senate concur), That subdivision c of
section 6 of article 6  of  the  constitution  be  amended  to  read  as
follows:
  c.  The  justices of the supreme court shall be chosen by the electors
of the judicial district in which they are  to  serve.    The  terms  of
justices of the supreme court shall be fourteen years from and including
the  first  day  of January next after their election.  NOTWITHSTANDING,
THE LEGISLATURE MAY DIVIDE ANY OR ALL OF THE JUDICIAL DISTRICTS  LOCATED
WITHIN  THE CITY OF NEW YORK INTO POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS FOR THE PURPOSE
OF ELECTING JUSTICES OF THE SUPREME COURT.
  S 2. Resolved (if the Senate concur), That the foregoing amendment  be
referred  to  the  first regular legislative session convening after the
next succeeding general election of members of  the  assembly,  and,  in
conformity  with  section  1  of  article  19  of  the  constitution, be
published for three months previous to the time of such election.
