Changes the one part-time judgeship in the city of Albany to a full-time judgeship; provides that there will now be five full-time judgeships in the city of Albany; provides that the person serving in the part-time judgeship shall continue in the new created judgeship for the remainder of the term so elected.

AN ACT to amend the uniform city court act,  in  relation  to  the  city
  court  of Albany and repealing certain provisions of the judiciary law
  relating thereto

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1. The second unnumbered clause of section 221-i of the judi-
ciary law is REPEALED.
  S 2. Paragraph 1 of subdivision (d) of section  2104  of  the  uniform
city  court  act,  as  amended  by  chapter  493 of the laws of 2006, is
amended to read as follows:
   1    Albany, [four] FIVE full-time [and one part-time];
  S 3. Transition. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the part-
time judgeship in the city court of Albany is abolished on the effective
date of this section and replaced by a full-time judgeship.  The  person
serving  in  such  part-time  judgeship  as of the date of its abolition
shall continue in service in the full-time judgeship  that  replaces  it
hereunder for the remainder of the term of office to which he or she was
selected in the abolished judgeship.
  S  4. This act shall take effect on the first of April next succeeding
the date on which it shall have become a law.
