AN  ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to exempting certain retired
  law enforcement officers from the requirement to obtain a  license  to
  carry a firearm

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Paragraph 1 of subdivision a of section 265.20 of the penal
law is amended by adding a new subparagraph (g) to read as follows:
  (G) A QUALIFIED RETIRED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER AS DEFINED IN SUBDIVI-
SION (C) OF SECTION 926C OF CHAPTER 44 OF TITLE 18 OF THE UNITED  STATES
CODE.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
