GOTTFRIED, WEISENBERG -- read once and referred to the Committee on Labor AN ACT to amend the labor law, in relation to maintenance of division of employment services offices THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The opening paragraph of section 14 of the labor law is designated subdivision 1 and a new subdivision 2 is added to read as follows: 2. THE DEPARTMENT SHALL MAINTAIN DIVISION OF EMPLOYMENT SERVICES OFFICES WHICH SHALL PROVIDE SERVICES TO THOSE PERSONS WITH EMPLOYMENT-RELATED NEEDS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ACCEPTING APPLICATION FOR OR ASSISTING IN THE CONTINUING MAINTENANCE OF UNEMPLOY- MENT INSURANCE BENEFITS. THERE SHALL BE AT LEAST ONE SUCH OFFICE IN EACH BOROUGH OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK AND EACH COUNTY IN THE STATE WITH A POPULATION OF GREATER THAN 150,000 AS DETERMINED BY THE MOST RECENT FEDERAL CENSUS. S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed- ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
