RIVERA, WRIGHT -- read once and referred to the Committee on Consumer Affairs and Protection AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to the inclusion of a hands-free unit with the purchase of every wireless telephone THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new section 399-bbb to read as follows: S 399-BBB. HANDS-FREE UNIT WITH PURCHASE OF WIRELESS TELEPHONE. EVERY PERSON, FIRM, CORPORATION, OR OTHER ENTITY THAT SELLS A WIRELESS PHONE WITHIN THE STATE OF NEW YORK OR OFFERS A WIRELESS PHONE FREE OF CHARGE IN CONNECTION WITH A PROMOTION WITHIN THE STATE OF NEW YORK, MUST INCLUDE A HANDS-FREE UNIT WITH THE PURCHASE OF SUCH PHONE AT NO ADDI- TIONAL COST TO THE CONSUMER. S 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
