RIVERA -- read once and referred to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to requiring all elemen- tary and secondary schools to show the motion picture "An Inconvenient Truth" to its students THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 809-b to read as follows: S 809-B. AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH. 1. ALL PUPILS IN GRADES KINDERGARTEN THROUGH TWELVE IN EACH PUBLIC SCHOOL IN THE STATE SHALL ATTEND A SHOW- ING, AT SUCH SCHOOL, OF THE MOTION PICTURE "AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH". 2. THE COMMISSIONER SHALL PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN THE COMPLIANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF SUBDIVISION ONE OF THIS SECTION. S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of July next succeeding the date on which it shall have become a law.
