SCOZZAFAVA -- read once and referred to the Committee on Judiciary AN ACT to amend the uniform justice court act, in relation to authoriz- ing a single court facility for adjacent localities THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The uniform justice court act is amended by adding a new section 106-c to read as follows: S 106-C. MERGER INTO ONE COURT FACILITY FOR ADJACENT TOWNS. UPON COMPLETION OF A REDUCTION IN TOWN JUSTICES IN ADJACENT TOWNS OR THE ELECTION OF A SINGLE TOWN JUSTICE IN ADJACENT TOWNS, AS PRESCRIBED BY THIS ARTICLE, AND UPON APPROVAL FROM THE TOWN BOARDS, SUCH TOWN COURTS MAY MERGE INTO A SINGLE COURT FACILITY TO BE USED AS THE COURT FACILITY FOR ALL SUCH TOWNS. EACH SINGLE COURT FACILITY ESTABLISHED PURSUANT TO THIS SECTION SHALL SERVE EACH TOWN IN THE SAME MANNER AS SEPARATE COURTS SERVE A TOWN AND SUCH COURT SHALL INCLUDE, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, THE MANAGEMENT OF RECORDS AND THE TRANSACTIONS OF COURT BUSINESS.
