KOON -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Employees AN ACT authorizing Stanley Chizuk to receive retirement service credit for prior service THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, Stanley Chizuk, who was a police officer in the village of Caledonia, for the period from November 1989 through 1991, and who is currently an officer with the town of Greece police department, and who is a member of the New York state and local police and fire retirement system, and who, for reasons not ascribable to his own negligence did not receive service credit toward his optional 20 year retirement plan for such periods, shall be entitled to receive service credit toward such plan for such period if, within one year from the effective date of this act, he files a written request to that effect with the state comptroller. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. FISCAL NOTE.--Pursuant to Legislative Law, Section 50: This bill will allow Stanley Chizuk, a police officer with the Town of Greece, to receive service credit under Section 384-d of the Retirement and Social Security Law for the period he was a police officer with the Village of Caledonia. If this bill is enacted and Stanley Chizuk receives such service cred- it under Section 384-d, there will be a past service cost of approxi- mately $67,200, which will be shared by the State of New York and all the participating employers in the New York State and Local Police and Fire Retirement System. This estimate, dated April 7, 2009 and intended for use only during the 2009 Legislative Session, is Fiscal Note No. 2009-202, prepared by the Actuary for the New York State and Local Police and Fire Retirement System.
