AN ACT to amend the public service law, in relation to the rates charged
  for electricity service to volunteer firefighter, ambulance, and emer-
  gency service organizations

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. The public service law is amended by adding a  new  section
76-a to read as follows:
  S  76-A.  RATES  CHARGED VOLUNTEER EMERGENCY SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS. NO
GAS CORPORATION OR ELECTRIC CORPORATION SHALL, DIRECTLY  OR  INDIRECTLY,
CHARGE, DEMAND, COLLECT OR RECEIVE FROM ANY VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER COMPA-
NY,  VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE COMPANY, OR VOLUNTEER EMERGENCY SERVICES COMPA-
NY, WHICH IS LOCATED IN A COUNTY WITH A  POPULATION  OF  LESS  THAN  TWO
HUNDRED  FIFTY THOUSAND, A RATE FOR ANY GAS OR ELECTRIC SERVICE UTILIZED
EXCLUSIVELY IN CONNECTION WITH SUCH COMPANY GREATER THAN  THE  RATES  OR
CHARGES CHARGED, DEMANDED, COLLECTED OR RECEIVED BY SUCH GAS CORPORATION
OR ELECTRIC CORPORATION FROM ANY DOMESTIC RESIDENTIAL CONSUMER RECEIVING
SINGLE-PHASE SERVICE WITHIN THE SAME COUNTY.
  S  2.  This  act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
have become a law.
