AN  ACT  to  amend  the  insurance  law, in relation to establishing the
  medical  liability  insurance  association;  and   repealing   certain
  provisions of such law relating thereto

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Article 55 of the insurance law is REPEALED and a new arti-
cle 55 is added to read as follows:

        5510. ANNUAL STATEMENT.

        5513. OTHER PROVISIONS.
        5514. EVALUATION.
  S 5500. TITLE AND PURPOSE. THIS ARTICLE MAY BE CITED AS  THE  "MEDICAL
LIABILITY  INSURANCE ASSOCIATION ACT". THE PURPOSE OF THIS ARTICLE IS TO
ESTABLISH THE MEDICAL LIABILITY INSURANCE ASSOCIATION AS THE PROVIDER OF
MEDICAL MALPRACTICE INSURANCE, TO THOSE INSUREDS UNABLE TO  OBTAIN  SUCH
COVERAGE IN THE VOLUNTARY MARKET.
