AN ACT in relation to authorizing a comprehensive study on the fiscal
implications, benefits and consequences of providing year round public
schooling for grades kindergarten through twelve; and providing for
the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The New York state department of education is hereby
authorized and directed to prepare and have prepared a comprehensive
study on the fiscal implications, benefits, consequences and the differ-
ent options available regarding the implementation of providing year
round public schooling for grades kindergarten through twelve.
S 2. The findings and results of the study shall be delivered, in the
form of a report, to the governor, the temporary president of the
senate, and the speaker of the assembly within 12 months of the effec-
tive date of this act. The report shall also include recommended legis-
lation that will assist in the timely implementation of a child daycare
rating system.
S 3. This act shall take effect immediately and shall remain in effect
until the ninetieth day after submission of the report specified in
section two of this act, when upon such date the provisions of this act
shall expire and be deemed repealed.
