AN ACT to amend the public officers  law,  in  relation  to  prohibiting
  local  elected  officials from holding two elected offices at the same
  time

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Section 3 of the public officers law is amended by adding
a new subdivision 1-a to read as follows:
  1-A. NO PERSON SHALL BE CAPABLE OF BEING ELECTED  TO  A  LOCAL  OFFICE
WHEN  HE OR SHE ALREADY HAS BEEN ELECTED AND CURRENTLY SERVES IN A LOCAL
OFFICE, NOR SHALL A PERSON BE CAPABLE OF  BEING  ELECTED  TO  TWO  LOCAL
OFFICES AT THE SAME TIME.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
