AN ACT to amend chapter 507 of the laws of 1974, relating  to  providing
  for  the  apportionment  of  state  monies  for  nonpublic schools, in
  relation to providing for an  additional  apportionment  for  asbestos
  inspections

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Chapter 507 of the laws of 1974, relating to providing  for
the  apportionment  of state monies for nonpublic schools, is amended by
adding a new section 3-a to read as follows:
  S 3-A. ADDITIONAL APPORTIONMENT.  IN  ADDITION  TO  THE  APPORTIONMENT
PROVIDED  FOR IN SECTION THREE OF THIS ACT, THE COMMISSIONER SHALL ANNU-
ALLY APPORTION TO EACH QUALIFYING SCHOOL, FOR SCHOOL YEARS BEGINNING  ON
AND  AFTER JULY 1, 2009, AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO THE ACTUAL COSTS INCURRED BY
EACH SUCH SCHOOL DURING THE PRECEDING SCHOOL YEAR INSPECTIONS TO  DETER-
MINE THE EXISTENCE OF ASBESTOS IN SUCH SCHOOLS.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
