AN ACT to amend the town law, in relation to authorizing the designation
  of hamlets upon consolidation of two or more towns

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Section  79-b  of the town law is amended by adding a new
subdivision 5 to read as follows:
  5. HAMLET. A GEOGRAPHIC DESIGNATION WITHIN A NEW TOWN WHICH IDENTIFIES
THE BOUNDARIES OF ONE OR MORE FORMER TOWNS WHICH  CONSOLIDATED  TO  FORM
THE NEW TOWN.
  S  2. Section 79-d of the town law is amended by adding a new subdivi-
sion 1-a to read as follows:
  1-A. THE TOWN BOARDS OF THE SEVERAL  TOWNS  IN  THE  SAME  COUNTY  MAY
INCLUDE THE DESIGNATION OF HAMLETS IN A PROPOSITION FOR CONSOLIDATION.
  S  3. Section 79-e of the town law is amended by adding a new subdivi-
sion 1-a to read as follows:
  1-A. THE DESIGNATION OF ANY HAMLETS WITHIN THE NEW TOWN AND THE BOUND-
ARIES OF SUCH HAMLET;
  S 4. This act shall take effect immediately.
