AN ACT to amend the public authorities law,  in  relation  to  providing
  certain powers and duties to bridge and tunnel officers of the Tribor-
  ough bridge and tunnel authority

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Subdivision 7-a of section 553 of  the  public  authorities
law, as added by chapter 1033 of the laws of 1970, is amended to read as
follows:
  7-a. Notwithstanding any inconsistent provision of law, the bridge and
tunnel  officers employed by the authority shall have the power to issue
simplified traffic informations for traffic infractions  as  defined  in
section one hundred fifty-five of the vehicle and traffic law, committed
on  the sites owned, operated and maintained by the [triborough] TRIBOR-
OUGH bridge and tunnel authority, such informations to  be  administered
pursuant  to the provisions of [title A of chapter forty] CHAPTER TWO OF
TITLE NINETEEN of the administrative code of the city  of  New  York  or
article  two-A  of the vehicle and traffic law, as applicable.  IN ADDI-
TION, SUCH OFFICERS SHALL HAVE THE POWER AND IT SHALL BE THEIR DUTY,  IN
AND ABOUT TRIBOROUGH BRIDGE AND TUNNEL AUTHORITY FACILITIES, TO PRESERVE
THE  PUBLIC PEACE; PREVENT CRIME AND ARREST OFFENDERS; REGULATE, DIRECT,
CONTROL AND RESTRICT PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC; ENFORCE AND  PREVENT  VIOLATION
OF ALL LAWS AND ORDINANCES; AND FOR THESE PURPOSES TO ARREST ALL PERSONS
GUILTY OF VIOLATING ANY LAW OR ORDINANCE.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
