  Office of Court Administration) -- read twice and ordered printed, and
  when printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes

AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to  geographical
  jurisdiction of offenses

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 20.40 of  the  criminal  procedure
law is amended by adding a new paragraph (f) to read as follows:
  (F)  THERE IS A LOGICAL NEXUS BETWEEN THE CONDUCT AND SUCH COUNTY, AND
NO OTHER COUNTY WITHIN THE STATE OTHERWISE HAS JURISDICTION PURSUANT  TO
THIS SECTION. EVIDENCE OF A LOGICAL NEXUS MAY INCLUDE THE PLACE OF RESI-
DENCE  OF  WITNESSES  RELEVANT  TO THE PROSECUTION OR ANY OTHER RELEVANT
FACT THAT ESTABLISHES GOOD CAUSE FOR SUCH COUNTY TO  EXERCISE  GEOGRAPH-
ICAL JURISDICTION OVER THE CONDUCT.
  S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of November next succeed-
ing  the  date on which it shall have become a law, and shall apply only
to offenses where the conduct constituting the offense  occurred  on  or
after such effective date.
