2009-S4608 (ACTIVE) - Summary

Provides that the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority shall offer for sale tokens or other payment devices for crossing the Triborough, Bronx-Whitestone and Throgs Neck bridges at a cost discounted by the same percentage discount of the regular crossing fare offered to residents of the county of Richmond for crossing the Verrazano-Narrows bridge.

AN  ACT  to  amend the public authorities law, in relation to tokens and
  other payment devices for the Triborough, Bronx-Whitestone and  Throgs
  Neck bridges

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. The public authorities law  is  amended  by  adding  a  new
section 553-j to read as follows:
  S  553-J. TRIBOROUGH, BRONX-WHITESTONE AND THROGS NECK BRIDGES; TOKENS
AND OTHER PAYMENT DEVICES. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY INCONSISTENT PROVISION OF
LAW, BUT SUBJECT TO AGREEMENTS WITH  NOTEHOLDERS  AND  BONDHOLDERS,  THE
AUTHORITY SHALL OFFER FOR SALE TOKENS AND OTHER PAYMENT DEVICES AND MAY,
EXCEPT  AS  OTHERWISE  PROVIDED  HEREIN,  REGULATE THE USE THEREOF. SUCH
TOKENS AND OTHER PAYMENT DEVICES SHALL ENTITLE THE PURCHASER  TO  CROSS-
INGS  OVER THE TRIBOROUGH, BRONX-WHITESTONE AND THROGS NECK BRIDGES AT A
COST DISCOUNTED BY THE SAME PERCENTAGE DISCOUNT OF THE REGULAR CROSSINGS
FARE CURRENTLY OFFERED TO RESIDENTS OF THE COUNTY OF RICHMOND FOR CROSS-
INGS OVER THE VERRAZANO-NARROWS  BRIDGE.  APPLICATION  FOR  SUCH  TOKENS
SHALL  BE  MADE  IN SUCH MANNER AS PRESCRIBED BY THE AUTHORITY AND SHALL
CONTAIN SUCH INFORMATION AS THE AUTHORITY MAY REASONABLY REQUIRE.
  S 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day  after  it  shall
have become a law.
