BILL NUMBER: S4666 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the general municipal law, in relation to the establishment of a health program for employees of not-for-profit contract agencies PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : To give budget relief to contract agencies that provide essential services to Suffolk County. EXISTING LAW : No law currently exists. JUSTIFICATION : Contract agencies, like most of the public sector, have seen costs for health insurance rise 65% in the last five years. Providing a more cost-effective alternative with the county's health plan would permit these essential agencies to devote more financial resources to their core missions. FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS : None to the state. EFFECTIVE DATE : Immediately.
