BILL NUMBER: S4836 REVISED 06/17/09 TITLE OF BILL : An act to legalize, validate, ratify and confirm a transportation contract of the Canaseraga central school district PURPOSE : This bill directs the State Education Department to reimburse the Canaseraga Central School District for a specific 2008-09 transportation contract. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1 validates all of the acts taken by the Canaseraga Central School District in connection with certain transportation contracts of the 2008-09 school year. Section 2 directs the State Education Department to consider such contracts valid and proper obligations of the Canaseraga Central School District. Section 3 indicates that this act shall take effect immediately. JUSTIFICATION : The Canaseraga Central School District was denied transportation aid

YOUNG -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education AN ACT to legalize, validate, ratify and confirm a transportation contract of the Canaseraga central school district THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. All the acts done and proceedings heretofore had and taken or caused to be had and taken by the Canaseraga central school district and by all officers, employees or agents of such school district relat- ing to or in connection with transportation contract C260776 of the 2008-2009 school year with various contractors, and all acts incidental thereto are hereby legalized, validated, ratified and confirmed, notwithstanding any failure to comply with the contract award, approvals and filing provisions of the education law, general municipal law or any other law or any other statutory authority, rule or regulation, other than those filing provisions defined in paragraph a of subdivision 5 of section 3604 of the education law, in relation to any omission, error, defect, irregularity or illegality in such proceeding had and taken. S 2. The education department is hereby directed to consider the aforementioned contract for transportation aid as a valid and proper obligation of the Canaseraga central school district. S 3.
