BILL NUMBER: S5180 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the state finance law, in relation to aid to eligible municipalities within the county of Nassau PURPOSE : This legislation would provide impact aid to host municipalities in the county of Nassau as defined in state finance law section 54-L. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS : Section 1. Subdivision 4 of section 54-1 of the state finance law is renumbered subdivision 5 and a new subdivision 4 is added to provide impact aid to eligible municipalities within the county of Nassau. Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately JUSTIFICATION : This bill would provide eligible municipalities within the county of Nassau with impact aid for acting as hosts of Video Lottery Terminals. Impact aid provides local municipalities with vital funding for emergency and public protection services. This bill also provides the allocation of $21 million in aid pursuant to section 54-1 to eligible municipalities within the county of Nassau as follows: a. an amount not to exceed seven million dollars to the Town of Hempstead, no less of which shall be directed equally to the

JOHNSON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Finance AN ACT to amend the state finance law, in relation to aid to eligible municipalities within the county of Nassau THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 4 of section 54-1 of the state finance law is renumbered subdivision 5 and a new subdivision 4 is added to read as follows: 4. NOTWITHSTANDING SUBDIVISIONS ONE, TWO, AND THREE OF THIS SECTION, AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY-ONE MILLION DOLLARS SHALL BE ALLOCATED IN AID PURSUANT TO THIS SECTION TO ELIGIBLE MUNICIPALITIES WITHIN THE COUN- TY OF NASSAU AS FOLLOWS: A. AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED SEVEN MILLION DOLLARS TO THE TOWN OF HEMP- STEAD, NO LESS OF WHICH SHALL BE DIRECTED EQUALLY TO THE UNINCORPORATED ASSOCIATIONS OF ELMONT AND BELLEROSE TERRACE FOR ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT; B. AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO MILLION DOLLARS TO THE ELMONT FREE SCHOOL DISTRICT; C. AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO MILLION DOLLARS TO THE FLORAL PARK-BELLEROSE UNION FREE SCHOOL DISTRICT; D. AN AMOUNT, NOT TO EXCEED TWO MILLION DOLLARS TO THE SEWANHAKA CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT; E. AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS TO THE VILLAGE OF FLORAL PARK FOR ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT; F. AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS TO BELLEROSE VILLAGE FOR ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT; AND G. AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE MILLION DOLLARS TO NASSAU COUNTY, NO LESS OF WHICH SHALL BE DIRECTED EQUALLY TO THE UNINCORPORATED ASSOCI- ATIONS OF ELMONT, BELLEROSE TERRACE, THE VILLAGE OF FLORAL PARK, AND BELLEROSE VILLAGE FOR ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.
